Parish History
St. Gabriel Parish was established in Burlington (Halton Region) in 1962 by the Resurrectionist Fathers. The beautiful stained-glass window at the front of our church, completed in 1964 and dedicated on January 31, 1965, portrays the Risen Christ and remains a cherished symbol of our faith community. We are deeply grateful for the dedication, prayers, and sacrifices of our founding parishioners, as well as for the twenty-one years of pastoral leadership provided by the Resurrectionist Fathers. Today, St. Gabriel Parish is entrusted to the care of the Michaelite Fathers.
Clergy and Staff
Fr. Piotr Wojakiewicz, CSMA, Pastor
Fr. Piotr Wojakiewicz was born in Poland on May 26, 1982. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 16, 2009, in Kraków, as a member of the Congregation of Saint Michael the Archangel. Fr. Piotr has extensive academic and pastoral experience, with studies completed in Italy and Canada. He earned a Master in Theology from the Pontifical University of St. Anselm in Rome (2003–2008), a Licentiate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (2009–2011), and a Doctorate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Lateran University (2012–2014). He also completed postgraduate studies in the practice of canon law at Saint Paul University in Ottawa (2020–2021). In 2013, Fr. Piotr moved to Canada, where he began serving in the Diocese of London, Ontario. In 2023, he was appointed to the Diocese of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, where he served as pastor, Judicial Vicar, Vicar General, and State Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus for the Province of Prince Edward Island. In 2026, Fr. Piotr was appointed Pastor of St. Gabriel Parish in Burlington. Fr. Piotr is fluent in English, Polish, and Italian, and has knowledge of Latin. His areas of interest include Catholic theology, canon law, marriage and family ministry, spirituality, parish and diocesan administration, and spiritual direction.
